"We believe that every person, citizen or immigrant or refugee, deserves to have access to healing systems in pursuit of processing their trauma and finding peace." - Nishea Trinidad
Nishea Trinidad founded Mighty Community Advocacy with her personal stimulus checks in 2020 to provide patient advocacy to local unhoused community members and foster care youth. Since then, the organization’s program offerings and staff has grown in response to high demand. Our programming has evolved in the last four years to focus more on patient advocacy and reproductive justice.
Nishea is a descendant of the rebellion CHamorru families from the sovereign island of Guam and a biological mother to a 17 year old daughter who is a senior in high school. For the last decade and a half, Nishea has been dedicated to breaking down walls for access to trauma-informed, anti-racist, LGBTQIA2S+ inclusive care for the most vulnerable youth in her community.
As an individual, Nishea has been providing abortion and pregnancy practical support for over two decades. While she was in college Nishea was the friend who would pick up Plan B for friends. As she moved into SART Advocacy and forensic exam support, Nishea learned how to hold safe and delicate space for community members immediately after their assault. Educating community members on the process of a D&C was very routine and aftercare support was always Nishea’s strong suit. As she became a foster parent in 2017, Nishea began supporting CSEC youth through criminal investigations and most of the teens she housed needed abortion support.
Nishea grew up in an abusive family. At 20, she became pregnant. At six months pregnant, she planned her escape from the abusive relationship. For the fear of her safety, Nishea went into hiding for two weeks at four different friends' homes. After advocating for herself in family court and learning the court process, Nishea began to support other moms that needed help by walking them through family court and domestic violence survivor support.
In 2014, Nishea became a Certified California Sexual Assault Response Team Advocate and began on-call services. For four years, Nishea sat with survivors in medical exams, court testimonies, police investigative meetings, and hospital and doctor’s office accompaniment. While a foster parent, Nishea’s SART training was utilized as she supported 4 foster youth through forensic medical exams and one through CSEC criminal investigations. Nishea would support three of those youths through abortions. At the height of the pandemic in 2020, and in the wake of the murder of George Floyd, Nishea decided that community building was where she could become more supportive of our community. That same year Nishea officially formed Mighty Community Advocacy and created a 501c3.
Three words to describe Nishea would be tenacious, relentless, loving and her greatest wish for our community is equitable and supportive community living.

My lived experience informs the ways in which I imagine a more loving world. The words queer, BIPOC, neurodivergent, survivor, disabled, and recovery have all had a role in transforming my reality (in both profoundly challenging and enriching ways).
Queer family has saved my life. I think 3 words to describe my energy would be warm, passionate, and advocate. I am a former school teacher, practicing astrologer, and social worker (MSW graduation loading). My greatest wish is for my neighbors and community members to feel like safety, belonging, and joy are accessible. I believe that joy is a human right and everyone is entitled to sovereignty in their healing journey. I love working at Mighty because we truly embody the phrase "together, we are mighty." Relationships, safety, and belonging truly drive the work we do -- it's radical in a way that is actually quite simple.

I began working with Mighty in 2020 and have been with Mighty through the positive changes made over the years. I am now apart of Mighty’s Los Angeles chapter and hope to bring the joy that mighty brings in Fresno, here, in LA. I am currently finishing up my Masters degree in Latin American Studies. Last year I completed my bachelor’s in Sociology with an emphasis on race, class and gender studies. My desire to further my education has always been out of love for my community, and to uplift and center voices of the most marginalized communities. I am a revolutionary optimist, I believe that a better world is on its way, and it is through cultivating community that the world we envision can be made possible. As I continue my journey with Mighty, I hope to provide safety for those who have never felt safe. My wish Is that each community member thrives in their own autonomy.

My greatest intention for the community members we serve is for our members to have autonomy and choice in every decision they make. I want them to know I have their back, whichever decision they choose for themselves, whether it be reproductive, academic, or for their future.
I became a doula to be a space holder for anyone experiencing any sort of life change or vulnerability. I want anyone I come into contact with to know I support their rights to their body and space. I also believe that your body is such a sacred, vulnerable space and deserves to be honored.
The core beliefs that drive me are consent, respect, and safety.
If I had to describe myself in three words I’d use Virgo-energy, space holding, and advocacy.
