Our Programs.
In My BackYard: Perinatal Health Cohort
Our program offers a unique opportunity for LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC youth under 26 years old, who are pregnant, postpartum (have given birth within the last 2 years) to connect with established elders in their community who share their identities and experiences. Each gathering focuses on skill-sharing and knowledge exchange in one of the following areas: Healthy Meals & Cooking, Herbalism, Art & Arts-based Wellness, and Body Work & Fitness. These sessions are designed to honor and amplify the wisdom of our elders while fostering a supportive and nurturing environment for our youth.
Each gathering is thoughtfully structured to provide a holistic experience:
1. Healthy Snack or Meal: Each session begins with a nutritious snack or meal, emphasizing communal sharing and healthy living.
2. Mommy & Me Activity: A creative and engaging activity for mothers and their children to enjoy together, strengthening family bonds.
3. Childcare & Children's Activities: Dedicated childcare and fun activities are available to keep children entertained while their mothers participate.
4. Elder Knowledge & Skillshare: The heart of each gathering is the interaction between youth and elders, where valuable skills and knowledge are shared.
5. Youth Hangout: Following the skillshare, youth are encouraged to stay, socialize, and build meaningful connections with one another.
The program culminates in a special day retreat to either the mountains or the sea. This final gathering will feature all the elements of the previous sessions, offering a restorative experience that "treats" the youth, expands their horizons, and deepens their connection to nature and community. This retreat is a celebration of the relationships and skills cultivated throughout the program, reinforcing the bonds formed and the collective growth experienced by all participants.

Healing Art & Culture with Access:
"Healing Art and Culture With Access" is a free program designed to support young parents by exposing them to diverse art forms while fostering lasting community connections with artists in Fresno. This initiative by Mighty aims to create meaningful art workshops with local artists and organizations, offering education on various artistic modalities and their applications to youth and their families.
To ensure culturally-appropriate, safe, intentional, and therapeutic programming, we collaborate with local social workers and an expressive arts therapist. Our workshops provide a supportive environment where young parents can explore the therapeutic benefits of art and culture. We are committed to partnering with artists, presenters, organizations, and practitioners who will maintain relationships with the youth beyond their initial engagement and our funding period.
Our program seeks to remove barriers that prevent youth from accessing art and culture by offering the following:
Childcare: We provide childcare services during events, allowing parents to fully engage in the workshops.
Safe Learning Environment: We create a welcoming space to learn about the therapeutic values of various art forms.
Group healing experiences are facilitated by an expressive arts therapist, helping participants explore their emotions and experiences through creative expression.
Workshop Offerings:
Visual Arts: Watch the short film "Choices" and explore visual storytelling.
Digital Arts: Learn to capture candid moments and transform them into movies.
Literary Arts: Express your voice through writing and creative expression.
Culinary Arts: Learn to create culinary art on an EBT budget, blending creativity with practicality.
Pottery Arts: Discover how patterns and textures in pottery can serve as a form of personal expression.
The program concludes with a movie screening, celebrating the creativity and growth of all participants. "Healing Art and Culture With Access" provides a unique opportunity for young parents to explore art in a supportive and nurturing environment, building skills and connections that will last long beyond the program.
Program starts in Spring 2025.
LASH Abortion Access Program:
Mighty Community Advocacy is dedicated to empowering college-aged students in , CSULA, CSU Fresno, CSU system and their surrounding neighborhoods by providing essential support and resources. Founded to serve youth navigating oppressive systems such as hospitals, courts, and educational institutions, Mighty Community Advocacy focuses on advocacy and education to help young people thrive despite systemic barriers.
Through the Mighty + CSULA Project, we aim to foster informed and empowered communities by hosting educational table days on campus. These events are designed to dispel misinformation about abortion and reproductive health services, providing students with accurate information and resources.
In addition to educational outreach, Mighty is committed to creating tangible access to those interested in becoming abortion doulas. We support students who want to serve their communities by offering solutions to common barriers, such as providing childcare, transportation, and travel assistance.
By addressing these needs, Mighty Community Advocacy helps students gain the knowledge and tools they need to support their communities, advocate for reproductive justice, and challenge oppressive systems.
